Paid Leave
Sick Leave
- Employees who work one-half time or greater earn one day of sick
leave for each full month of employment. Sick leave is credited
each month, based on the number of hours employed per day. Sick
leave is accumulated from year to year with no limit on the number
of days which may be accrued.
Personal Leave
- Employees may be allowed six (6) days paid leave for personal
reasons each year. Personal days are charged against your accrued
sick leave.
Vacation
Leave -
Vacation leave is accrued for all
full-time, 12-month employees, at the rate of two (2) days per
month. A maximum of ten (10) of these vacation days per year may be
scheduled by the Board.

Unpaid Leave
Leave of Absence
-
A Leave of
Absence is permission granted by the School Board, or allowed under
its adopted policies, for an employee to be absent from duty for a
specified period of time, with the right to return to employment
upon the expiration of leave. leave may be granted with or without
pay as provided by law. For detailed information on Leave of
Absence contact the Human Resources office.
Family Medical Leave -
The Board provides family and medical
leave to eligible employees in accordance with the Family and
Medical Leave Act of 1993. A leave may be granted under this policy
for a maximum of 12 work weeks during any school year (July 1 - June
30).

leave (includes care for spouse, son, daughter, parent of
employee or a serious health condition with the employee).

Sick Leave Bank
The purpose of the Sick Leave
Bank shall be to protect its members from personal catastrophic illness, accident, or injury by providing an emergency pool of
sick leave days.
The bank is administered by the
Alachua County School Board composed of teachers, administrators,
and career service personnel. Enrollment is voluntary. Employees
having a current accrual of sick (6) sick leave days or more, who
are currently employed by the School Board one-half (1/2) time or
greater and have worked for the School Board at least one (1) year
are eligible to join the bank. Enrollment is accomplished by
contributing one (1) day of sick leave to the bank after one year of
employment or during Open Enrollment.
Withdrawal of days from the Sick Leave Bank is accomplished by
completing an application to the Sick Leave Bank Committee,
including supporting documentation from a personal physician stating
nature of illness or injury and prognosis.
