No Flame Explosions (safer than fire explosions but if under 6, should still be conducted with parent or legal guardian)
Battery Bomb- directions, take a 2-5 double a batteries and puncture a small hole in it (please were safety glasses, if it sprays the acid could burn through your eye!). Wait around 30 seconds for the pressure to be released, then empty the contents into a plastic bag and lay into the sun for 2-4 hours, until it turns into a black powdery substance or close to it. Next, fill a empty plastic water bottle 1/4 to 1/2 full of hydrogen peroxide and QUICKLY pour the battery powder into the peroxide and screw the lid on TIGHT, chuck the bottle into the air and get away. Allow 1-4 minutes for detonation, remember to have on the safety gear necessary, which includes gloves, glasses, and if possible. thick clothing.
DANGER RATING 3.5 please note that I am what you call a professional with explosives, and I cannot enforce safety strictly enough . I have been burned before and it is just about the worst thing you can do to your body. This experiment is not very dangerous, but should be done with care.
baking soda and vinegar volcano (for children of all ages, no safety equipment required)
Directions- take a plastic water bottle and bury it in dirt so only a quarter of it is sticking out, mound dirt up on the part sticking out like a volcano, but let the part you drink from remain uncovered. fill it 1/4 full with baking soda, then take a separate bottle and fill it 1/4 full with vinegar. Finally pour the vinegar into the buried bottle with the baking soda in it and enjoy.
