The author of the "Journal of Biddy Owens" Walter Dean Myers. He was born in Martinsburg in West Virginia on August 12, 1937. Then he moved to Harlem with his foster parents at age 3. He went to a public school there and went to Stuyvesant High School until he joined the army at age 17. And he stayed in the army for 4 years.
