About our School

Caring and Sharing Learning School is a public elementary Charter School operating under the governance of the State of Florida and the School Board of Alachua County in Gainesville, Florida, USA. The Caring and Sharing Learning School, Inc. opened its doors on August 24, 1998 with 31 children enrolled in Kindergarten through Third Grade. Under the leadership of Dr. Simon O. Johnson (Retired University of Florida, College of Education Professor) and Mrs. Verna J. Johnson ( Retired Alachua County School District, Teacher) there are now 115 students in grades Kindergarten through Fifth Grade currently enrolled.

Our school implements a variety of the latest teaching "best practices" and is data driven to ensure the optimum learning process of each student. Additional assets are provided through Retired Teachers, University of Florida Law and Bright future Students, Fraternities, Sororities and other Community organizations who volunteer at the school on a weekly basis, providing an excellent opportunity for each student enrolled to have his or her own personal mentor, role model and tutor.

Enrollment is open to any Alachua County elementary student in grades K-5 at no cost. Former students have gone forth to hold various School Leadership positions, enroll in the Lyceum Center For Advanced Studies , The International Baccalaureate Program and other Advance Placement classes/programs within Alachua County.
