Teacher Information & Philosophy

A little about me...I am a 3rd grade teacher in my 15th year of teaching and still enjoying it. I was one of those who knew I wanted to be a teacher since I was 5 years old and would teach imaginary students on my chalkboard while playing in my room. I enjoyed school growing up and graduated from the University of Florida (Go Gators!) with my bachelors degree. I have recently earned my Masters degree from UF and am enjoying the opportunity it has allowed me to teach evening classes at Santa Fe Community College. I have an amazing husband, John, who is a former Gator Baseball player, and 2 wonderful children Marlee (age 5) and Cole (age 3). I am so fortunate to have help raising them by my wonderful parents and Abuela (grandmother) who live in town. For fun I like to hang out with my kids and friends, scrap book, read, go to Gator events, cook, go for a bike ride, and play on my laptop.

My philosophy on teaching...School is the first job a child has and they need to take that job seriously. I work hard each day to best meet the needs of each child in my classroom and the more willing and motivated a child is the better I can help them achieve success. Children today have many special needs, academic and social, and it is important to me to work with the families of my students to meet these needs and ensure a successful 3rd grade year.

The purpose of this website...is to increase communication with information for my parents and students. It began as a class assignment for one of my masters classes at UF, but I have always wanted to create one and just needed the push to dedicate the time and energy it takes to work with technology.
