Grading/HW Policies

Homework is a valuable aid in helping students make the most of their experience in school. HW is given to reinforce what has been learned in class, prepare students for upcoming lessons, teach responsibility, and help students develop positive study habits. HW that is conscientiously completed can significantly raise achievement and self-esteem as well as establish study habits essential for success. HW that is relevant helps children assume responsibility for their own education and may include practice to reinforce skills and enrichment or extension activities.

3rd graders at Chiles follow the HW Policy of 30-45 minutes of independent HW daily.

A = 90-100%

B+ = 87-89%

B = 80-86%

C+ = 77-79%

C = 70-76%

D+ = 67-69%

D = 60-66%

F = 0-59%

I = Incomplete

Other Grades & Redo

√+ = excellent work, √ = good work, √- = unsatisfactory work
L grades = Late paper
Redo Policy-any paper sent home (except a test) that you or your child is not satisfied with can be redone; simply fix the mistakes on that same paper or staple a new sheet to it, write "Redone" at the top, and turn it in for a better grade
H.O.W. = H is for Heading(full name, date, subject), O is for Organized(good spacing), and W is for Written Neatly
