Care

Challenge

Each student will build a car that will be able to roll smoothly and transport one "D" cell battery (the "passenger") a minimum distance of 40 cm beyond the base of a ramp. The battery must not fall off the car. The materials for the car include:

* one 11" square of poster board

* two wooden skerwers

* two plastic drinking straws

Other than materials needed to fasten the car together (glue, tape, etc.) and materials to decorate the car (paint, glitter, markers), no other materials may be used in your car's construction.

Report Format

What you need to include in your Sailboat Challenge Report

1. Title, Name, Date, Block 1 or 2

2. Real World Challenge: Give me an example of an event that is similar to your challenge.

3. Objective: What are you making, why, what does your creation have to do?

4. Materials: What did you use to make your creation?

5. Procedure: Step by step (like a recipe) tell me how you made your creation.

6. Results: See Science Challenge Sheet.

7. Conclusion: Did your creation meet the Objective? Why do you think it did or did not work? If it didn't work, what would you change if you made it again?
