Sailboat Challengee

We challenge you to construct a model of a sailboat whose hull will fit into a shoe box that will carry 10 marbles (the cargo), will not sink, and will reach the other side of a six foot swimming pool in a straight line. The only source of power will be the wind from a fan. You will determine the speed of the fan.

Report Format

What you need to include in your Sailboat Challenge Report

1. Title, Name, Date, Block 1 or 2

2. Real World Challenge: Give me an example of an event that is similar to sailing a boat in a straight line across a pool.

3. Objective: What are you making, why, what does your creation have to do?

4. Materials: What did you use to make your creation?

5. Procedure: Step by step (like a recipe) tell me how you made your creation.

6. Results: See Science Challenge Sheet.

7. Conclusion: Did your creation meet the Objective? Why do you think it did or did not work? If it didn't work, what would you change if you made it again?
