The Sunshine State Young Reader's Award Program is a statewide reading motivation program for students in grades 3-5. Students in 4-5 grades will be introduced to the SSYAR Program at our school.

Fifth graders that read at least 5 books and score points on the Accelerated Reader test will be invited to a Pizza Voting Party in April, to vote for their favorite book. Fourth graders that read at least three books and pass the AR test will be invited to a Donut and Juice Voting Party in April, to vote for their favorite book.

The total votes are then sent to Tallahassee to be added to all the votes from around the state. The book that wins will be the SSYRA book for 2002.   To learn more about the program visit the Florida .
