Guidelines for Semester Exams
- The length of each examination period is one hundred minutes. A written evaluation (objective or essay) must be part of the examination, but evaluation may also incorporate projects, or oral presentations, skills tests, or similar assignments during the exam period. An eventual exam might include work produced during a more extended time.
- The examination must be comprehensive, i.e., it must cover the entire semester's work to date. Remember that "passing ac comprehensive final examination" is now part of the attendance policy as a way of awarding credit for demonstrating "mastery" of the student performance standards."
- The results of the total exam period should count no more than 20% of the student's semester grade. It can count less.
- Every student must take an examination.
- Exams should no be administered early. Any exam needed to be made up should be made up after the test during the week before the semester ends.
IMPORTANT TESTING INFORMATION
If the student has an IEP (ESE students) or a 504 Plan, please be aware that accommodations provided in the classroom and on State tests such as the FCAT are NOT AUTOMATICALLY PROVIDED for College Board (SAT, AP, PSAT, Subject Tests) testing or ACT testing. Accommodations must be applied for to the test companies with the assistance of designated school personnel. Decisions about accommodations are made by the companies based on recent documentation of the disability, test data supporting the need for accommodations, and timely submission of the application. The web sites of the two companies contain information about the process and time lines.
