EASTSIDE HIGH SCHOOL
PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION

The Eastside High School Grant Fund Committee is pleased to announce that we are taking applications for grant funds for the 2009-2010 school year. The source of our funds is parent contributions, and the amounts available vary from year to year. Average awards tend to be in the $100-$500 range.
Listed below are policies to guide you when preparing an application.

  1. The PTO Trust Fund is designed to help defray the expense of attending school-related academically-oriented trips or conferences for teachers or students. Also, classroom expenses, teaching materials or class projects which will strengthen academics will be considered for Grant Fund expenditures.
  2. Grant requests which ultimately benefit the greatest number of students will receive priority consideration.Clubs or groups requesting funds should be clubs that support, enhance, or reflect academic subjects taught, and must have a teacher sponsor who submits the application to the Grant Fund. Scholarships for students to attend non-academic trips or camps will not be considered. Requests will be awarded based on the merit of the applicant/group and the availability of funds as determined by the Grant Fund committee.
  3. Requests for food or hotel registration will not be considered for Grant Fund grants. Please consider contacting a business partner or other funding sources for those needs.
  4. Please be reminded that the Grant Fund is intended to support activities that are beyond the scope of funding generally provided by Alachua County School Board. If your request is denied, the Grant Fund may be able to recommend other resources to consider for funding.
  5. When requesting funds, all applications must be submitted electronically using the PTO Grant Fund Request Form. Please send your form as an email attachment to Angela Miney at aminey@cox.net. You may also email any questions you may have about the application process.
Click on the link above for a copy of the form.
  6. Parent Teacher Organization Grant Form Requests for funds will be reviewed once every two months by a panel of five committee members.
  7. Deadlines for submitting requests are Oct. 9, 2009; Dec. 11, 2009; Feb.19, 2010 and April 16, 2010. Requests will be reviewed and applicants will be notified of the decision approximately ten days after each submission deadline. Please consider your academic needs carefully and send in your request early.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Angela Miney at 871-5278(Cell) or 332-0723 (home). We appreciate your commitment to education at EHS and hope to hear from you soon.
