About Glen Springs

PHILOSOPHY

A sound educational program must have a comprehensive philosophy as its foundation. Within Glen Springs Elementary School's philosophy there exists a synthesis of concern for pupils, for faculty and staff, for the community we serve, and for the society in which we live. Our school's philosophy serves as a guide and gives direction to each phase and part of our total operation.

We therefore are committed to the idea that the educational process should develop in each individual the wisdom, skills, knowledge, habits, and attitudes necessary for productive living and that by the use of these processes, students will be able to shape both themselves and society toward even more noble and productive ends.

In support of our philosophy, we believe...

That the academic program should center around the acquisition of organized knowledge, the development of intellectual and physical skills, and the enlargement of understanding.

UF Volunteers

That each person in our school is entitled to equal respect. We recognize that students should be provided opportunities to make decisions, within limits, and school personnel should allow students to be responsible for those decisions. Allowing students to experience the natural and logical consequences of their elected behavior furnishes valuable learning experiences and instills a sense of responsibility that is essential in a democratic society.
