Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader (AR) is a fun way for students to develop and enhance reading comprehension skills. Books are assigned a reading level and given a point value. As students read a book, they are encouraged to take an AR quiz to check their comprehension of that book.

Points are awarded based upon the number of correct answers. For example, a book may be worth 10 points. If a student answers 8 out of 10 questions correctly, he/she would be given 8 points.

Students accumulate points during the year and are recognized on Good Morning Hidden Oak as they reach pre-determined levels. In addition to this recognition, they are given prizes that correspond to the level they have reached.

Currently, there are over 3,000 book titles on the Hidden Oak AR list. The Media Center adds new titles to the list every year. The lists below include all the book titles on our current AR list sorted using different criteria.
