Welcome! This site is designed to inform parents, teachers, students, and members of our community about the effort to increase inclusive education in Alachua County Public Schools. Our Vision and Philosophy for inclusion were developed using input from representative stakeholder groups selected by parents and district leadership. This resulted in the creation of a five year plan (PATH), which may be accessed from this page. Vision Students with a wide range of abilities and diverse needs participate in general education. Each school is responsible for providing effective services in age-appropriate classrooms. These environments are interactive and stimulating, structured around principles that acknowledge and celebrate the inherent diversity in a group of learners. Philosophy The District-wide philosophy articulates the rights and abilities of all students to learn and establish a foundation in which all teachers work together to teach all students. An inclusive approach to education considers the general education environment as the preferred option for all students.
