Our mission is "early college preparation and success for life"
by providing opportunities to increase motivation and
awareness about college.
| WHAT IS IT?
GEAR UP (Gaining
Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs)
is a project funded by the federal government to help middle and high school
students get ready for post secondary education and training. The goal of
GEAR UP is to increase the
probability and possibility of higher education for students in need of
assistance.
|
| GEAR UP and the Alachua County School Board are pleased to provide an
opportunity for your child to participate in our after school program. All
programs offered this year will have an academic focus and will be taught by
teachers at Lincoln Middle School. The programs offered are designed to
enhance the academic learning going on during the regular school day.
There is no charge to enroll your child in this program. Parents will
however be expected to participate in one fundraiser or donate $40.00 toward
activities. Classes will be offered two days per week initially, (Monday
and Wednesday). If the need arises and funds are available, we will expand
the program to four days. Please be reminded that this is not intended to
be a babysitting service for your child. Students will be actively engaged
in learning daily.
