Academy of Automotive Technology

The Academy of Automotive Technology is designed to prepare students for employment and/or specialized training in the automotive industry. The academy curriculum is a planned sequence of courses with a focus on broad transferable skills. It emphasizes understanding and demonstration of many elements of the automotive industry, including safety and environmental issues, planning, management, technical and product skills and the underlying principles of technology.

Students in the academy use textbooks, computer assisted learning modules, tools currently used in the industry and hands-on practices to master the skills required in each course. A workshop that meets industry standards is adjacent to the classroom. Students learn to diagnoses problems and practice repair procedures on a variety of donated and county employee vehicles.
