Academy of Business Ownership
The purpose of this program is to prepare students as entrepreneurs, present entrepreneurship as a career path worthy of consideration, provide students with the skills needed to realistically evaluate their potential as a business owner, and develop the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to start and operate a business.
Activities
The students in the Academy of Business Ownership own and operate The Students Corner, a business located on campus. The store has spirit items, school supplies, supplies that teachers need and want available, and food items to sell after school. The students learn and are responsible for all phases of running a business. Our student organization is DECA. Click here for more information on DECA.
We are also members of National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE). This is an organization whose primary goal is helping young people see the value of owning their own businesses and helping them achieve that goal. A subsidiary of NFTE is EF! That is our state organization and we attend a Leadership Conference in November at Disney with this organization. We learn all about Disney’s leadership and marketing programs.
Our program has had 2 International Young Entrepreneurs of the Year-2005 and 2007 and the teacher is and International Teacher of the Year. We have had other recognitions: Runner up in 2005, 2006, 2007: Honorable Mention in years 2004, 2005, 2006, and 2007.
