Suggestions to improve - Can't improve perfection.
91% have used the handbook this year
Can't think of anything
Being new, I've used it a lot.
Navigating the SBAC home page is confusing;
Haven't used it much but it's a great idea and resource.
The search engine doesn't seem very comprehensive.
Easy to use.
I've found what I need.
Don't use it.
Can we find a quicker way to get to it. If you're in Dynix you have to
minimize, open Netscape and go through 6 steps plus scrolling on each screen.
There are times when this seems tedious.

Comments - The Follett people have tried really hard to be helpful.
Follett's web site is excellent.
Recieving books from Follett already processed has been great.
Had great success with all jobbers this year. Great service online.
I love using the Follett web site to order books. It had mad the whole process
so much easier. I like being able to choose a binding and also being able to
choose a binding and also being able to print out a list with AR books.
Better fill rate from B&T than usual.
B&T has gotten much better is supplying books in a timely manner.
I love Follett's Titlewave.
Follett Titlewave program is wonderful, great service from Follett.
Follett is more than pretty good, they're awesome!
I love Titlewave, it saves me so much time.
Follett has a very navigable online system.
Follett had an overwhelmingly more
positive response than other vendors. Many people tried them and really liked
them.

Very responsive. I appreciate that!
The media supervisor has responded in a helpful and timely manner to our
concerns.
Mrs. Case makes our job so much easier and is an authoritative resource.
Always very helpful and supportive!! Thanks.
I have not need to ask for help, but I know she would respond positively if I
did ask.
Always helpful with and open door policy.
Nancy is always prompt about responding to every question.
Response is always prompt, helpful and informative.
Thanks so much!
Always available and with answers. Barbara is great also.
Nancy is wonderful. She has helped me in so many ways especially when I have

follows up.

Always ready to help, thanks.
All my questions, and I've had plenty, were immediately answered or referred

- 8. Is there anything you would like the media supervisor
to do for you that is not now being done?
Can't think of anything.
Expand our budgets.
Can't think of anything new. Keep up the great work!
More opportunities to compete and attend conferences for TV production.
No, I think she has covered all bases.
Give more notice on e-mail before meetings. We can do
this.
All is OK.
No, Nancy is doing a wonderful job.
Keep doing the same good job - Perhaps you could make up and give us a copy of
the school based survey you want us to do. There is one
in the handbook.
Can't think of anything, but Nancy is so receptive I feel confident in asking
for help if I need it.
Is it possible to have bibliographies of highly reviewed new books to purchase
on the web site?
I think we should share our really good finds and put them into an online
bibliography.
We are going to be offering Hornbook Online which is an
online book selection tool.
I can't think of anything. Nancy is splendidly proactive.
Establish better protocols for the vendors regarding records development so
that our books can go on the shelf not to Sivia.
If we have Follett do all our custom changes it
will take as long for them to do them as it does for us to do them and I would
think that they would not be as conscientious as out staff is about getting
them right.
-
- 9. Is there anything you would like us to order, either
for the professional library or for the film library?
Start ordering DVD's and weed some of the videos from the 1980's.
We will do a major weed this summer and we have already
starting ordering DVD's.
Internet and electronic research skills for very young students.
Media literacy at a very low level - such as identifying ad techniques.
Nothing right now, but I know I can always e-mail a request.
Library skills set from GPN.
-
- 10. Have students at your school used eLibrary?
Elementary
a. yes 7, b. no 9, c. not very much 5 only 57% say
students use e-library at elementary
Used mainly by gifted students, others don't use it. - 1
My students are too young to use it. (preK-2)
Gifted students use it a lot.-1
- Middle
a. yes 3, b. no 0, c. not very much 1 100% say students
at middle school use e-library
They use it all the time.
We use it as a home page.
-
- 10b. Have students at your high school used Newsbank?
a. yes 6, b. no 0, c. not very much 3 100% say students
use Newsbank
Comment - Not happy with it -1
-
- 11. Do you think having an electronic database like
eLibrary is needed ?
at Elementary level a. yes 9, b. no 7 only 56% say
it is needed at elementary level
Comments - Not sure it's needed, teachers are so focused on math, reading,
etc. - not much time.
I find better info on the internet.
Not needed if we have to pay for it when others are free ie. Britannica.com.
Britannica.com is no longer free.
Our student population wouldn't use it enough to justify the cost but other
schools may.
We will probably not offer e-library to
elementary schools next year. We will purchase an electronic encyclopedia,
which is cheaper. Current usage does not seem to justify the expense of
e-library for elementary.
- at Middle school a. yes 4, b.
no 0 100% say it is needed
We use it in classes daily!
-
- 11a. Do you think having an electronic database like
Newsbank is needed at the high school level?
100% say it is needed
a. yes 9, b. no 0
Comments - Useful for social studies though not much used.
A periodical database is a must,..is Newsbank the best?
-
- 12. Is there another electronic resource that you would
like the county to purchase? a. yes 5
Comments - Keep SIRS
Encyclopedia Britannica
I liked Infotrac.
Need a more graphical computer catalog. Hopefully, in a
couple of years, if we can get funding we will go to a more graphical
interface.
Newsbank looked interesting. (middle school media specialist)
-
- 13. Did you receive adequate instructions and assistance
with problems when you did your last inventory? a. Yes 28, b. No 0
100% positive response
-
- 14. Do you have any suggestions for ways to reduce costs
for materials purchased in the future?
Comments - We should be allowed to purchase books from the cheapest source
possible. *See below
Shopping around the jobbers and telling then each others prices works wonders.
Palm can run a Powerpoint presentation instead of a laptop and they are
cheaper.
Forms on the web has worked well to cut costs. Keep it up.
We need to keep the warehouse.
I would like to know if Cox cable service and 1 copy of the Gainesville Sun
are provided to any schools at no charge. I think they should be.
I believe Cox is provided to everyone.
Allow us to shop locally and w/book fairs as we wish.
You can purchase materials from bookfairs now. Limiting us to $100 also
very much limits the sale priced items we can purchase. Therefore the school
spends more on full priced books and we buy things on sale out of our own
money. *Because we have a Union database
and we need to have uniform MARC records provided for as many of our records
as possible we cannot allow schools to purchase from anywhere they want to. We
don't have enough staff to do the numbers of original MARC records that would
generate.
-
- 14. Additional comments
Thank you for purchasing the public performance site license.
If there are funds we plan to purchase it next year.
The whole process of scheduling the human growth and development videos needs
improvement as there are problems every year. Media doesn't schedule this. It
is done by the Health supervisor.
It is a pleasure to work with Nancy and with Barb. Nancy listens carefully and
does her best to handle concerns of the library media specialists. She is
always professional and extremely helpful.
Nancy, you've been doing a great job for all of us. Keep up the great work!!!
We also use SIRS daily. Thanks for the databases. Great resource. I appreciate
getting School Library Journal through the county. another great resource!
We don't have Cox cable yet, but will we get the Cable in the Classroom
program listing prior to the start of the month? I've been getting it around
the 15th of each month. Schools experiencing problems
getting Cable in the Classroom on time should call Cox directly.
Thanks Nancy and Barb for being so responsive.
I wish the warehouse would purchase the roll book covers. They no longer do
this.
