| 1. | 2/26/2008 1:03:00 PM | At Elementary level, with so many demands of meeting with all classes, there is no time to do a library retrofit. |
| 2. | 2/26/2008 3:18:00 PM | I don't think we so much need to file 398's by country but rather change the Dewey call number so that the title is reflected in the first three letters... IE 398 Lit, 398 Chi, 398 Red, etc. Is this possible?
Regarding numbers, Why are we losing two months or more use of a new book to adjust the call number by hundredths of a decimal?
I would much prefer we bought books and put them on the shelf.... after we PAID for processing! |
| 3. | 2/26/2008 4:20:00 PM | If we're teaching Dewey, we should actually be using it. Especially if our kids are going to be lifelong library users. |
| 4. | 2/26/2008 4:36:00 PM | no comment since I am filling in |
| 5. | 2/26/2008 8:04:00 PM | Our unique cataloging system makes it much easier to access specific types of books, especially for elementary students. |
| 6. | 2/26/2008 9:06:00 PM | I love the system we use and I am too old to re-learn standard Dewey. I like that alphabet books go in the 400's, counting and color books go in the 500's, etc. Otherwise my easy shelves would be bursting at the seams. But I like that I can dierct students and teachers to one location for like items. |
| 7. | 2/27/2008 9:43:00 PM | Under b all non-fiction books would not shelved immediately. Sometimes the jobber does not carry the number far enough or they carry it too far |
| 8. | 2/28/2008 6:51:00 PM | Our county system works for us because this is the way students and teachers search for information. |
| 9. | 2/28/2008 7:28:00 PM | Our job is to prepare students to be successful once they leave the school environment (life skills) why would we use a system within our schools that is different from the cataloging system students will use after high school? |
