Storyfest Parent Notification / Permission Form

 

      Your child__________________________has indicated an interest in participating in the Alachua County Storytelling Festival.  The festival will be held on Saturday, November 17th at Sidney Lanier School at 312 NW 16th Ave. Your child will be learning a story which will be told from memory at the festival.  (Students will not be allowed to read their stories from a book.)   There will be refreshments, a performance by a professional storyteller, and an opportunity for your child to shine as a storyteller.  This year there will also be great prizes for each teller.

 

You can help by;

*assisting your child in selecting a story,

*boosting your child's confidence,

*reminding your child that stories must be learned and can not be read from the book on the festival day,

*providing transportation on the festival day,

*attending the festival to hear your child and others,

*volunteering to help on the festival day,

*removing crying babies and noisy toddlers from the rooms where students will be telling stories, (in consideration for our student tellers),

*being a audience member for your child & the session before or after your child's session

*keeping hallways quiet so tellers inside rooms are not distracted.

 

      Please let your school media specialist know if for any reason your child will be unable to attend this year's storytelling festival day.

                                                                                             

Schedule  - Registration - 9:15 - 10:00

Opening ceremonies - 10:00 - 10:45, (cafeteria)                     

Student storytelling - 10:50 - 11:55, (assigned rms.)                 

(Students will be dismissed from their story rooms for refreshments.)
