Show your students the importance of being safe on the internet. Read this pledge out loud to your class and sign it.

1. I will make sure each student has a signed internet permission form on file before allowing online access.

2. I will teach students how to use “child friendly” search engines such as Yahooligans and encourage students to use only those.

3. I will instruct all my students in my school’s rules for internet use.

4. I will teach all my students how to identify sites with valid and accurate information.

5. I will instruct my students in what is legal and illegal online.

6. I will teach all my students about internet safety and “netiquette”.

7. I will make sure all student online usage is closely monitored by me or another responsible adult.

8. I will establish and carry out penalties for inappropriate online use.

9. I will always model appropriate internet behavior myself.
