Public Performance of Videos

The Media Services Department has purchased a public performance license for all Alachua County Schools.  This allows videos to be used for educational use as well as for entertainment use.  Any video from the following companies is allowed to be used. Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures, Warner Bros., Columbia Pictures, TriStar Pictures, Paramount Pictures, DreamWorks Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Miramax Films, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, and United Artists

It doesn't matter what the source of the video is or whether it is to be shown on closed circuit or on individual vcrs.  Videos may be shown during school or in afterschool programs at the school as well.

The fact that showing a particular video is not against copyright law does not mean that it is always a good thing to do. All outside videos, (those not owned by IMS or your school), should be previewed by a staff member and OK'd by a member of administration.  Parents have the right to limit their child's viewing of any video not rated G.  Administrators are strongly encouraged to have parents give prior permission for their children to view any outside video that may be shown with a rating other than G.

If you would like further information on our public performance licensing you can check out http://www.movlic.com/schools.html.
