On March 30, 2006, we held our SSYRA Voting Party.

There were 19 voters from 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.

Over half were from Mrs. Gilliam's Third Grade Homeroom and/or Reading Class!

When voters arrived at the Voting Party our Offical Vote Takers

took their votes

and gave them their medals.

Mrs. Cooper took everyone's picture.

After a quick lesson in table setting etiquette,

(salad plate over fork, glass over knife, fork on left with napkin, knife and spoon on right),

Soup was served!

Our menu was straight from GRANNY TORRELLI MAKES SOUP by Sharon Creech: homemade chicken soup, oranges and bread with lots of butter, warm from the oven. YUM!

When all the votes were counted, the winning book at Metcalfe was:

GOONEY BIRD GREENE by Lois Lowry.

The winning book state wide was:
