Learning Lab

All classes, K - 5, participate in the learning lab. The students have a chance to use a variety of computer programs that are fun, while building important computer skills needed in this computer-oriented world today. Our Learning Lab Proctor is Mrs. Marion Holder. The following is a list of the software programs your children use in the lab and a brief description.

Destination Reading and Math

A comprehensive, research based literacy and mathematics program that enables every child to succeed. The program guides students from preschool to third grade in Reading, and preschool to sixth grade in Mathematics, through the essential steps of becoming successful readers and problemsolvers. The Learning Management System enables teachers to create custom assignments and lesson plans and track and assess each child's progress through the program. Excellent tutorials, activities, and take home sheets can assure mastery of state standards. The fusion of animation, friendly human voices, natural language, and high quality sound invites students to participate in an instrinsically motivational environment.

• If your child is in kindergarten - 2nd grade, click on the simple login button, choose class, then choose name. Click on the exploration button to use the software.
• If your child is in 3rd - 5th grade, your child's username is their first initial and last name (example : lredd) Their password is their initials. Click on the exploration button to use the software.

Kid Pix Deluxe 3

Teachers Choice Award 2002 - Creativity Program that inspires kids to express themselves with innovative, fun, wacky and totally unique art tools such as crayons, magic markers, paintbrushes, 3D paints, hundres of stretchable animations and stickers. Students can also import and tranform photographs. The slideshow fature is an easy to use multimedia program with great sounds and transitions for every curricula area.

MindSight

Helps students organize their thoughts, improve their writing skills, and teach them how to focus on ideas and summarize materials. It is a visual thinking tool used to create visual maps for reports, outlines and web projects.

Zoombinis Logical Journey

A fascinating and challenging game designed to help your students explore and apply fundamental principles of logic, problem solving and data analysis. It also strengthens students scientific thinking processes, as well as offers many opportunities for integration with language arts activities.

Accelerated Reader

Students read a book, then take a short computerized comprehension test on this program. Students earn points for each test. This program has our students reading like crazy! Check back at the main page for our AR list of tests we have.

Star Reading and Star Math

Computerized assessment students take three times a year to ensure they are growing and excelling in Reading and Mathematics. Watch for reports to come home. 1st grade takes the reading part beginning in December. 2nd grade takes the reading part three times a year. Third thru Fifth grades take the reading and math parts three times a year.
