ART/2-D COMPREHENSIVE I
Grades 9-12 Prerequisite: None
This is the entry level course for the visual arts
program. This course introduces students to designing, drawing, and
painting. Content covered includes, but is not limited to, structured
experiences which develop visual perception and expression of
proportional, textural, and spatial relationships in a variety of media.
Examples of high quality work from master artists are studied.

ART/2-D COMPREHENSIVE II (Drawing)
Grades 9 - 12 Prerequisite: Art/2-D Comp I
This course is designed for studio production and
critiquing of more complex ideas and/or images in two-dimensional media
such as painting and drawing. The elements of color, value, line, space,
shape/form and texture are organized to create arrangements by using the
principles of emphasis, balance, rhythm, unity, repetition, contrast and
proportion.

DRAWING AND PAINTING I
Grades 10, 11, &12 Prerequisite: Art/2-D Comp I or II
This course is designed to give students studio practice
and art appreciation in two-dimensional media such as acrylics,
watercolors, pencil, pen or brush and ink, crayon, chalk and mixed media.
Basic compositional skills using line, space, form, texture and color are
practiced through drawing, painting, printing and critiquing.

DRAWING AND PAINTING II
Grades 11 & 12 Prerequisite: Draw & Paint I
This course is designed for studio practice with an
in-depth study in design and composition and application of this knowledge
to more complex art assignments. Students are exposed to a variety of
tools, techniques and processes and encouraged to advance their methods of
expression in their art work.

PORTFOLIO I
Grade 12 Prerequisite: Draw & Paint I or II
The purpose of this course is to give students an
introduction to the development of a portfolio which reflects
understanding of the elements of designing varied forms of expression.
Experiences are provided for the production of original and imaginative
works of art and for making and justifying judgments about aesthetic merit
and qualities of works of art. |
