Welcome
to Oak View Middle School. For those of you new to the Oak View family,
let me tell you a little about myself. Following graduation from the University
of Florida, I began my teaching career in Brevard County.
I returned to Alachua County in 1992 where I began teaching at Newberry
Junior/Senior High School. I was part of the team that opened Oak View
in January, 1994. I taught Social Studies for seven years before being
promoted to Assistant Principal in 2000. Taking over as Principal in 2005
has been the highlight of my educational career.
As
Principal of Oak View, I will work to continue to meet the needs of all
of our students in Archer, Newberry, and surrounding communities. Our
faculty and staff are committed to providing quality instruction that
will motivate students and promote academic excellence.
Great
strides were made last year in students' learning gains as demonstrated
by the 2006 FCAT scores. In fact, Oak View reached its Shooting for the
Stars goal by significantly increasing student achievement in all academic
areas as required for Adequate Yearly Progress.
Our theme for this year is
Dream, Plan, Achieve. If we can dream it, then we can achieve it.
Our staff will work with our students to form action plans for success.

Academic
success will remain our primary focus in order to achieve our goal
of becoming an "A" school.
We are all very proud of our Oak
View website. We keep the site updated to give parents another avenue
to keep in touch with events and other important information. As
you browse through our website, you will notice e-mail links to
faculty and staff members. Take a moment to write a note, provide
feedback, or ask a question. We appreciate and value your input.
Go Panthers!

Welcome
to Oak View Middle School! I am truly ecstatic about the opportunity
to join the Oak View Team and to return home to Newberry.
For those that are new to the area, allow me to
provide you some information about my educational career.
Following graduation from Nova Southeastern University
with a Master of Social Science Education, I began teaching American
History at Newberry High School. During my years at Newberry High
School, I was extensively involved in the NHS football program, served
as Department Chair, Business Manager and Dean of Students. Since
leaving Newberry High, I served one year as Assistant Principal at
Bronson Middle High School.
I will
be a part of the team that will continue the tradition of academic
excellence at Oak View. Our team of highly qualified teachers and
staff will strive to meet the needs of all of our students to ensure
their success.
