File Preparation For Printing

The currently supported Adobe Printer Driver is: PS Printer 8.3 (for PostScript Level 1 and 2).

For specific information on how to create a PDL file in your application of choice, you must refer to the documentation that came with your soft ware.

Note:
PostScript files (.PS) printed to disk are not the same as Encapsulated PostScript Files (.EPS). .EPS files sometimes do not contain embedded images or fonts, but merely maintain a link to the original images and fonts. These .EPS files may not image correctly on our printers because of this. PostScript (.PS) PDL files that are correctly printed to disk will contain all the font and image information necessary for printing.

Your digital files will be processed with fewer problems if you use computer programs that we support, adhere to certain creation standards, and supply us with specific background information on how the files were created.

Creation Standards
Here are a few guidelines that we suggest you follow when creating your digital files:

Save your file in the application's native file format. Not text or ASCII.
Use U.S. Letter for your document page size. We will automatically create the signature booklet if your publication requires it.
Use a minimum 1/2" margin on all sides.
Do not use hard returns at the end of each line. Allow word wrap.
Do not use the space bar to create an indent or tab. Always use the tab key.
Always set up hanging indents correctly. Do not use the tab key, hard returns or spaces.
Do not use a hyphen to break a word at the end of a line.
Make sure you include embedded tables, charts, graphics and images with your document as separate files.
Please use only PostScript fonts, and make sure that our design team has the fonts you have used. Do not use TrueType fonts if possible.

Please also provide us with the following information when you submit your digital files:

Fax or send us a sample printout of the file.
File name
Application and platform
File format
List of fonts used
List of any linked graphic files.
Name and phone number of contact person if we have any questions
