Education Support Professionals
Performance Evaluation Procedures

  1. Evaluation of an Education Support Professional's performance is an administrative responsibility.

  2. The Education Support Professional shall be informed regarding who will do the evaluation.

  3. Each employee shall be evaluated by the worksite supervisor or his/her administrative designee annually, and when deemed necessary.

  4. All evaluations shall be in written form utilizing the format that has been mutually agreed upon by the union and the board.

  5. Prior to the implementation of the evaluation process, all Education Support Professionals will be informed of the evaluation process and criteria for evaluation.

  6. At the conclusion of an employee's probationary period, an evaluation will be completed for each employee. Employees who receive an overall "satisfactory" rating will become regular employees.

  7. The worksite supervisor is responsible for indicating the employee's effectiveness in meeting each evaluation criterion:

Above Satisfactory

Criterion is attained and the quality is exceptional and exceeds that of Satisfactory.

When employee performance is deemed to be Above Satisfactory, a supporting statement is recommended.

Satisfactory

Criterion is attained and the quality is acceptable.

When employee performance is deemed to be
Satisfactory, a supporting statement is recommended.

 

Needs Improvement

Criterion is attained, but the quality is not consistently acceptable.

bullet

When employee receives a rating of "needs improvement, a supporting statement is required, i.e., identify the area needing improvement and identify the assistance that will be offered.

 

Not Satisfactory

Criterion is not attained.

bullet

A supporting statement is required.

bullet

Prior to checking "not satisfactory" on an employee's evaluation, the appropriate worksite supervisor will have:

Informed the employee in writing of possible deficiencies.

bullet

Manner in which the deficiencies can be remedied.

bullet

Time and assistance to correct the deficiencies.

 
  1. An overall rating of the Education Support Professional's performance, which shall be reflective of the overall evaluation, will be included on the evaluation instrument.

  2. The employee shall sign and date the written evaluation. The written signature and date indicate the employee has read the written evaluation and has had the opportunity to discuss the evaluation with the worksite supervisor.

  3. If the employee disagrees with his/her evaluation, the employee may, within ten (10) working days, provide a written rebuttal to be attached to the evaluation.

  4. An employee shall not be required to sign a blank or incomplete evaluation form.
