welcome

We don't have a computer at home.  Is my child going to be penalized?
Having a computer is not a requirement for this class.  All of the assignments can be done here at school.  Some students make valuable use of free time or come to the lab before or after school hours to make sure that they do all of the required work.  (see lab hours).  Other students may use the public library, or other resources to work at home.  The best solution is to make sure that time in class is used as efficiently as possible, that way, you don't have to take home any work!

My child submitted an assignment, why does webgrade still show a zero?

I can only post grades when they are ready for updating...check the date each time you open webgrade.  Grades on the web are not "real time"....I actually have to post new grades. i.e. when I change a grade in the grade book, it may not show up on the internet for a few days.  It's always best to make sure you look to see what was the date of the last grades posting.  Look for changes approximately once a week.  (sometimes more, but not usually).

I just checked webgrade, do I need to conference?
Probably not, remember that webgrade is a snapshot of how your child is doing at any given time,
So if your child is an "A" student and webgrade reflects a B average, gauge the number of assignments versus the amount of time left to pull the grade up. This would be a good time to talk to your child about it
and see what can be done to bring things up to an acceptable level.  If you have a question about a particular assignment, you can email.  That usually resolves things the most quickly.

What do question marks on a grade report mean?  Are they zeros?
Question Marks simply mean that the assignment has not been accounted for by the teacher.  It could be that the assignment is in "limbo" (waiting to be graded), or that the student is in the process of making up an assignment.  While question marks do not affect an average, if the assignment is NOT turned in, it does become a zero, which then is a part of the class average.  Talk to your child about these question marks to make sure they don't become zeroes.  A quick email to the teacher may help ease your concerns as well.

Zeros are killing my child's average, can we do anything about them?
The best way to remove zeros is to do extra credit.  We have 2-3 opportunities for extra credit each nine weeks for students who are seeking a better grade.  Check the website often so that you don't miss the extra credit window of opportunity.

How often is webgrade updated?
Expect some type of update approximately every week.
