The
Fine Arts Departments offers students opportunities to express
themselves artistically while preparing for careers and avocations.
Fine arts students participate in many activities in their schools
and communities as a part of their challenging educational programs.
The evidence of the outstanding arts program can be seen in the many
honors, awards, and scholarships that are won by individual students
and performing arts groups.
The Standards
The comprehensive, sequential curriculum is built on the Florida
Sunshine State Standards for the Arts, district curriculum guides,
and school guidelines.
Classes Available
All elementary students attend visual arts and music classes for at
least one semester. One elementary
school offers a dance program in which all students participate.
Band instruction is available in all middle and high schools. Chorus
instruction is available in some middle and high schools. Art
instruction is offered in most middle and high schools. Dance is
offered in some high schools.
Community Support
To enhance learning opportunities, several community arts
organizations prepare teacher’s guides and present student focused
theatre, dance, and orchestra performances and visual arts
exhibitions in the schools and at local venues.
