Foreign Language

The Foreign Language Department is expanding the horizons for Alachua County students by giving them the opportunity to explore, appreciate, and value many cultures through several languages.  Through foreign language study students learn that the ability to communicate in more than one language can open doors to higher education and fulfilling life experiences.

Foreign Language courses are offered at all high schools, several middle schools, and one elementary school.

All high schools offer Spanish.  Some also offer French, Italian, German, and American Sign Language.  Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate courses are available at selected high schools.  All courses may help students to meet their requirements for admission to universities in Florida and in other states.

Spanish is the course usually offered in the middle schools and Spanish is  the only foreign language course taught in the elementary school.

Please visit the SBAC sponsored Foreign Language page for a better understanding of our foreign language program.
