Multicultural
education is a structured process designed to prepare students and
staff to live, learn, and work in a pluralistic world by fostering
appreciation, respect, and tolerance for people of all ethnic and
cultural backgrounds. The multicultural education program is
designed to:
Change the relationships among students
of diverse cultures
Improve self-esteem and a sense of
belonging for all students
Insure sensitivity, acceptance, and
support of multicultural curriculum from parents and the community
at large
Provide a continuous, comprehensive
curriculum of multicultural education for all students
The state guidelines indicate that the
implementation of the multicultural education law is the
responsibility of all departments of the state and district school
systems.
