     Overview

The District Security Chief provides basic services to the district as a whole. These services/functions are Safety and Security and are detailed below:

Security
Security services are available on a voluntary and compulsory basis. Such services as the development of a "Crisis Plan", Security and Fire Alarm monitoring and Facility Evaluations are fundamental/compulsory services provided to each work location.
Emergency Crisis Plan:
A comprehensive SBAC Emergency and Crisis Plan was developed. The plan is reviewed and updated yearly by district, law enforcement, fire rescue and emergency management personnel. New employees are provided training on the plan at their employee orientation. Copies of the comprehensive plan are issued to each school/facility and are also viewable through the internet. A summary sheet of the plan is given to each employee yearly. Emergency drills are conducted at each school/facility in order to practice responding to the different possible crises addressed in the plan.
 Identification Cards:
All full time employees and part-time after school employees are issued SBAC ID Cards. The ID cards have the employee's photo, name, job title, and job location. These should be worn at all times on SBAC property.

Alarms:
bullet The Security Office deals with the overview of the Security and Fire Alarms, the issuance of security codes, and the recommendation for new or additional security systems.
bullet If a charge is questioned, contact the False Alarm Reduction Unit at 352-265-6650.
bullet If there is has a mechanical\operational problem submit a work order to Facilities.
bullet If a security code needs to be issued contact your principal, Principals are the only ones authorized to request the issuance of a code.
bullet If there is a security code question, contact the Security Office at security@sbac.edu.
bullet If information on the city and/or county False Alarm Ordinance is needed, go to http://www.alachuasheriff.org/alarms.
Facility Evaluations:
Upon request, schools/facility sites can be reviewed from a security standpoint. The Security Office can also assist with training on site based security related topics upon request.
