Parking
Parking - All Vehicles must have a valid decal
PARKING
PROCEDURES FOR 2010-11
Procedures for
obtaining a parking decal for the 2010-11 school year include:
1. First you
must have a valid license (no learner’s permit), 2.0 GPA, and a
vehicle to drive!
2.
You will need a
reservation time to get your decal the week before school starts.
Fill out a pre-registration card and turn it back
into the Dean’s Office by Friday, August 13. A list of
reservation times will be posted Monday, August 16 outside the
Dean’s Office.
3. Seniors
can get their decals on Wednesday, August 18, beginning at 5:30
P.M. All other underclassmen get their decals on Thursday,
August 18, beginning at 5:30.
4. Cost
of decal is $25.00.
If you will not be in town on your reservation day,
you can have someone pick it up for you as long as they have all
necessary materials.
All
students who drive vehicles during the regular school day must be
registered and display a valid decal. To be eligible for a
decal, students must have a 2.0 minimum cumulative GPA. Students
are to observe the 15 M.P.H. speed limit, obey all traffic
regulations, park in the assigned area, and drive in a
responsible and mature manner. A student's driving privilege
will be denied if it is found to be in the best interest of the
school. Violations include but are not limited to improper check
in or out, skipping, driving students who are not
officially checked-out off
campus, tardy to school, music too loud, or unauthorized use of
a decal, debts owed to school, etc. |

Attendance Policies Excused absences will
include the following:
- Absence due to sickness, injury, death in the
family, or some other insurmountable condition. The fact that the
student was not in attendance due to these reason must be attested
to by written statement from the student's parent/guardian upon
the student’s return. If a note is not provided, the student
will be required to contact a parent by phone before being
allowed to enter class with an unexcused absence. A
parent/guardian may document up to six (6) days of absence per
semester, after which, such absences will be unexcused.
- Death in the immediate family or a
grandparent.
- Documented appointments with health care
professionals.
- Documented absence for religious instruction
or holiday.
- Absence due to participation in an academic
class or school sponsored activity approved by the
principal.
- Documented court appearances.
All other absences are
considered unexcused.
Any student who has accumulated more than six (6)
unexcused absences will not be awarded credit unless the student
demonstrates mastery of the student performance standards in the
course of study by doing all of the following:

Complete make-up work for all excused absences in
a satisfactory manner within a reasonable period.
- Show knowledge of the course contents through
class assignments, projects, and/or written reports.
- Pass a comprehensive final examination.
A student's mastery of performance standards will be determined
by the teacher with principal approval.
Policies for Attendance
- Out of school suspension absences will be
considered unexcused.
a. Homework for suspended students may be viewed on the school
website,
www.sbac.edu/~SFHS/
b. It is the individual teacher’s decision as to the weight of the
grade given to homework. It is to be understood that no credit or
only partial credit may be given as per District Policy.
- Show knowledge of the course contents through
class assignments, projects, and/or written reports.
- A student who does not check in with a
teacher on club day will be considered “skipping” and referred
to the Dean’s Office.
- A student who has 15 unexcused absences
within any 90 calendar days is considered truant and shall be
reported to proper authorities. The Department of Highway
Safety may not issue and shall suspend any previously issued
driver’s license or learner’s license for any such minor
student.
Students who drive to school must have a
prearranged checkout.
Procedures
for prearranged check out are:

Before school, students must
bring a parent note requesting early dismissal to the Attendance
Office. Notes are to include the following information:
a.
Reason for early dismissal
b. Method of travel (drive, walk, etc.)
c. Name of person authorized to sign student out
d. Parent’s day phone number for verification of note
e. Time of dismissal
Santa Fe High
School Dress Code 2010-11
Parents
and Students—refer to the
Alachua County School Board Code of Student Conduct for the
current guidelines and policies for student dress. Additional
specific dress code requirements for
Santa Fe High School are:
Students are required to dress
according to the policy set by the Alachua County School Board,
adopted June 1, 2010. Refer to the 2010-11 Student Code of Conduct.
Students are required to wear a school uniform at all times while
attending school or any school-sponsored activity during
the school day.
Basic Uniform
Girls:
-
Long
or short-sleeved, solid-colored, collared blouse or polo shirt.
-
Solid-colored skirt, pants, walking shorts, jumpers, or skorts of
corduroy, cotton, twill, or denim fabric.
-
Jeans
without color trims, embroidery, or other decorations.
-
Solid-colored dresses with collars and short or long sleeves
Boys:
-
Long
or short-sleeved, solid-colored, collared shirt, such as polo,
oxford, or dress shirt.
-
Solid-colored pants or walking shorts of corduroy, cotton, twill, or
denim fabric.
-
Jeans
without color trims, embroidery, or other decorations.
-
Additions for
Santa Fe High School
-
Approved for wear are:
-
Collared shirts with a Santa Fe High School logo.
-
School-sponsored T-shirts with round close-fitting neckline (crew
neckline). The T-shirts must have sleeves.
-
Headgear worn only when the principal declares “Winter Hat
Rule Time” which allows the wearing of head gear before school,
outside school buildings, and at lunch during freezing temperatures.
This includes headgear of any type (hats, hoods, caps, visor,
scarves, bands, ear warmers, etc.)
-
Special clothing necessary for a school-sponsored activity, as
permitted by the principal.
-
Other Basic Components:
-
Waist
of the garment must be worn at the waist.
-
Shirts/blouses/dresses must cover midriff, back, and sides, with no
visible cleavage or undergarments
-
Clothing may have a small manufacturer’s logo.
-
Clothing must be the appropriate size, not be oversized or
undersized.
-
Clothing must be properly fastened.
-
Length
requirement for shorts/skirts/jumpers/skorts/dresses is no shorter
than “mid thigh.” Mid thigh is determined by extending the arms to
the sides of the body and finding the tip of the longest finger
(using normal posture).
-
Outer
garments such as coats, jackets, sweatshirts, or sweaters must be of
appropriate size.
-
Safe
shoes.
-
Items you may not wear are:
-
Clothing that is torn, has holes, or pants that are frayed.
-
Athletic shorts, cut-off pants, short-shorts, or running shorts.
-
Visible undergarments, sleepwear, or outer garments traditionally
designed as undergarments.
-
Outer
Garments or accessories (such as backpacks, jewelry, and purses)
which have slogans, signs, images, or symbols that promote drugs,
alcohol, tobacco, gang identification, weapons, lewd sexual
behavior, denigrate or promote discrimination for or against
an individual or group on the basis of race, color, disability,
national origin, sexual orientation, race, religion, or gender.

Body
piercings, except for earrings on the ears. All other body piercing
jewelry must be removed or concealed.
-
Jewelry that may be unsafe to others, i.e. chains, spiked jewelry or
arm spiked bands.
-
Combs,
curlers, or hair picks.
-
Slippers.
-
Sunglasses inside the school building.
-
Blankets.
