Club Overview
The FFA is an organization in which students
share a common interest in the agriscience industry.
Members have opportunities to attend leadership
conferences, exhibit animals in fairs, and participate
in career development events for state and national
recognition. Many scholarship opportunities exist
in this area.
Each year selected members travel to
the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky.
On this journey, we tour agricultural industries such as
the Purina Mills Research Farm.
FFA members are given the opportunity
to exhibit chapter animals in the Alachua County Fair,
Florida State Fair, and the Alachua County Youth Fair.
Members gain knowledge of the livestock industry plus
earn premium money.
Through various Career Development
Events students gain hands on experience. Santa Fe
FFA
Chapters compete in the following events:
Forestry, Parliamentary Procedure, Livestock Judging,
Public Speaking, Extemporaneous Public Speaking, Creed
Recital, Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration Contest,
Vegetable Judging, Agricultural Mechanics, Horse
Judging, Tractor Operation, and Maintenance and Land
Judging Events.
The National FFA Convention recognizes
our state winners in various events. Chaper
Delegates attend various leadership workshops, Career
Show and convention sessions. The 2000 National FFA
Convention will have four Santa Fe FFA members competing
in the National Agriscience Fair.
The State FFA Convention each year is
held at the Grenelefe Golf and Tennis Resort in Haines
City, Florida. State FFA Convention recognizes FFA
members who have excelled in Career Development Events.
The Santa Fe FFA Chapter is a Premier Chapter in the
state of Florida.
Made For Excellence is a Leadership
Conference held at the FFA Leadership Training Center in
Haines City, Florida. FFA members are motivated
and inspired to develop leadership skills and techniques
to use in their daily lives.
The 2000-01 school year will mark the
completion of the new Agriscience Facilities.
These facilities contain state of the art equipment,
which will provide students with safe hands on
experiences. New innovative Agriscience
technologies will be taught through the use of computer
technology and biotechnology. At the completion of
this project the Santa Fe Agriscience Department will
include three teaching classrooms, a computer lab,
veterinary technology lab, horticulture lab, livestock
facilities, greenhouse, nursery, and land lab which
maintains a 25 head Angus cow/calf operation.
