Enrichment at W.S. Talbot Elementary

Jimmie Field 2006-2007

 Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Enrichment Program at Talbot Elementary School in our new room in the new building!  I am very fortunate and eager to work with your children.  I have been teaching the Enrichment Program at Talbot for the past sixteen years.  I know many of the parents already and think of you as my extended family. Many of us have worked together for years through fun times watching the children grow and learn. I am looking forward to meeting the new parents.  I do ask for parent volunteers and hope to see you occasionally.  The Enrichment Program for grades one, two and three will be curriculum based in the areas of Science and Social Studies.  It will be taught with a thematic approach that will broaden your child's background of knowledge.  The nine-week units will also develop self-directed learning skills, positive attitude of self-worth, interpersonal relationship skills and encourage creative thinking and expression.

The program provides a stimulating atmosphere developing higher levels of thinking that will provide a challenging environment.  Included in the program will be large and small group work, demonstrations, experiments, videos, individual research, and community resource speakers.  Your child will be expected to be an active participant in these units and will be evaluated by the teacher as well as a self-evaluation every nine weeks.

If you wish to meet with me individually please let me know and we can arrange a good time. I'm looking forward to working with you and your child.  If you have any questions, suggestions or concerns please call me at 955-6716.  Also if you have any ideas or areas of expertise that you could contribute to the units we are studying this year please contact me and we can get together.  Let's make this a great year!

                                                                             Sincerely,

      Jimmie Field
