CARS, CARS,
CARS!!
Parking
Fun at Talbot!
As you are already aware, with the addition
of the fence in the front of the school installed by the county,
city police, and GRU, parking is at a premium at Talbot. On the
first day of school, staff parked in the grass area in front of
the security trailer and south of the school to leave room for
parents. The first day brings in twice the number of parked cars
as other days because so many parents want to walk their child in
to school on the first day. After the first day, staff will be
parking in the front parking lot as usual but here are some ways
to alleviate potential parking problems.
1.
Front/Back Drop Off
Drop your
child off at school using either the front circular drive or the
back drive at the covered court. We have adults and patrolls
to assist children
2.
Park at Trinity
Park your car at Trinity Methodist Church behind Talbot and
walk in from the back of the school to the covered court and on to
campus. There is a walk-thru gate to separate pedestrians
from cars. The gates will have to be closed after 8:00 or
so, however, for reasons of security and safety. It does
allow parents to walk their kids in to school if they want to do
so.

3. New
Grassy Lot!
You
can park in the grassy area in front of the security trailer on
the south side of campus as teachers and staff did on the first
day. The School Board has said as long as cars stay out of
the bus CIRCLE where students are dropped off and loaded, parents
may come down the bus DRIVE and turn on to the grassy area using a
ramp they have built for us. WATCH FOR BIKERS WHO GO DOWN
THAT SIDEWALK TO GET TO THE SOUTH BIKE RACK. There are not
very many but please be aware that we need to be careful.

4. Additional
Parking
Use the additional parking area in front of the
kindergarten playground.
These are some suggestions for helping each
other alleviate parking concerns as much as possible. The number
of students we have at Talbot is actually less than it has ever
been but we have more parents who wish to park and walk their kids
in to class as well as having many volunteers who come in the
morning and stay to volunteer.
We are asking that volunteers not work in
classrooms and certain centrums at the beginning of the day. We
have found it to be distracting as teachers try to attend to their
students. It also avoids parents having to wait for their
“assigned volunteer duties” as it gives teachers a little extra
time to prepare. So if you can schedule your volunteering to come
back after the opening of school rush, that might help as well.
