Cold and Flu season is here!
We are trying to keep a lid on illness by being proactive with information and notices to parents when we are made aware
of illness in your child's classroom.

The following are some universal guidelines for common illnesses that your child may be exposed to.
Please read and treat accordingly.

Disease Incubation Period Contagious Period
Bronchiolitis 4-6 days Onset of cough until 7 days

Strep Throat 2-5 days 48 hours after starting oral antibiotic.  If not started on antibiotics, a student is contagious for 2-3 weeks after onset of sore throat.
Pink Eye 1-3 days Onset of pus/crustation until 24 hours on antibiotic drops

Colds 1-5 days
Onset of runny nose until fever is gone

Flu Sudden onset of fever, chills, aches, respiratory cough/cold.  Flu does not usually have stomach upset symptoms Until-24-48 hours after antibiotic is started and cough and fever are gone.

As with all illness, the best way to stop the spread is with good hand washing! if your child is sick and has been
diagnosed by your family physician, please contact the school clinic.

Keep Healthy,

Nurse Bonnie
