PROGRAM GOAL

To involve parents, teachers, and the community in cooperative ventures to expand and enhance learning experiences and meet the needs of individual students.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

 To help students improve academically

  To reduce the number of dropouts 

  To provide curriculum enrichment opportunities 

  To provide assistance to teachers and staff 

  To increase community involvement in education 

  To assist in locating additional resources to meet identified needs

 

2007-2008 SCHOOL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM STATISTICS
(Numbers based on surveys retuned)

  Total number of volunteers-24,800

  Total number of volunteer hours-669,000

  Total number of classroom resource speaker requests filled-800 

  Total number of business partnerships-360

  Total value of in-kind and cash contributions from business partners-over 2.2 million

NOTE:  The Florida Department of Education estimates that each school volunteer hour is equal to $18.55 of in-kind service.  Based on this figure, Alachua County school volunteers and business partners provided over $12.4 million dollars worth of resources to our schools last year!
