Waldo Community School strives to meet the objectives set by the School Board of Alachua County and the State of Florida Sunshine State Objectives in all subject areas including reading, math, science, social studies, language arts, writing, art, physical education, music, and computers.

Writing, spelling, handwriting, science, social studies, and health are taught at all grade levels, kindergarten through grade 5. Many objectives are met using a multitude of "hands-on" materials and activities. Basal textbooks are also available for use in spelling, social studies, and science. Social studies and science content is also covered in the reading program.

Miss Tucker, the Curriculum Resource Teacher (CRT), serves as a resource to classroom teachers, in order to enhance their success in meeting the needs of the students. She assists in the development and implementation of curriculum at the school level in accordance with state, district, and school-level objectives and guidelines. management and dissemination of instructional materials and coordination of the school-wide testing program are also the responsibility of the CRT.

The Florida Department of Education supplies a wealth of information regarding the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test. The FCAT is administered to grades 3 to 11, but affects all grades as the skills are developed many years prior to testing.
