Free Vaccinations for High School Students

  • The Alachua County Health Department is once again collaborating with Alachua County Public Schools to offer several vaccinations to high school students age 16 and older. This is an excellent opportunity to protect your student from several different and very serious infections and diseases. Options include Meningococcal B (MenB), Human Papillomavirus (HPV), Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY), and Hepatitis A (HelpA) vaccinations.

Links to a parent letter and information sheets for each of these vaccines are available on this site.

All students will be offered the MenB and other vaccines at school AT NO COST TO THEIR FAMILIES! However, if your child has health insurance, the Health Department is required to collect that information and bill the insurance company for the vaccine. There will be no co-pay or deductive due from you. Students without insurance will receive the free vaccine through the Vaccines for Children program. Your student’s health insurance status will stay confidential.

For your student to participate in this program, you must fill out a consent form and return it by January 15. The consent form is available on this site. Your student can return the form to his or her teacher, you can email it to the Health Department at SLIV@flhealth.gov or fax it to the Health Department at (352) 334-7947. Please complete and return the form even if you do not want your child to participate.

For more information, contact the Health Department at (352) 334-7916.
