Curriculum Overview

  • The faculty and staff at Littlewood Elementary are committed to providing a challenging and enriching educational program with a well-rounded curriculum that meets the needs of all levels of learners.
Our curriculum is based on the Florida’s Next Generation Sunshine State Standards (Common Core).

Reading Street, from Pearson, is the district-adopted core reading series that addresses the Reading/Language Arts Next Generation SSS.

Teachers may supplement their reading instruction with other reading programs and/or children’s literature.

GO Math: Florida from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt serves as the basis for our math program. Calendar Math is also used as a supplement.

Houghton Miffin Harcourt is the district-adopted program that is used to teach the Science Next Generation SSS.

In addition to these core content areas, as well as their Writing and Social Studies instruction, our students receive weekly Music, Art, Media, and PE classes.

Our Gifted Enrichment program focuses on providing a more rigorous curriculum as outlined by the grade specific NGSSS, and also on developing students’ critical thinking skills.

Students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) are provided a continuum of services through our Exceptional Student Education program. We strive to provide the most appropriate setting that meets the unique needs of each individual student.
