This year, there is no formal summer reading requirement for students. In previous years, Cambridge students were required to complete a summer reading assignment. For this year, we are instead simply encouraging all students to continue reading on their own. A previous email mentioned the Alachua County Public Library’s Teen Battle of the Books as an extra credit opportunity. Unfortunately, spots in this program were limited to 65 students throughout the county and registration has closed. If students read a book of their own choosing and would like to earn extra credit in their Reading class for their summer reading, then they may submit a short summary of the book (1-2 paragraphs) to their Reading teacher during the first week of school. For those that are interested in reading during the summer and in need of suggestions, here is a list of middle school appropriate reading.
