IB Sophomore Places in Competitions

Ramtastic News! Sophomore Alexander Hsu was named 2024 Congressional App Challenge Runner-up!

Alex's app controls scrolling speed through social media videos, supporting a "dense body of research [that] suggests media multitasking...has a detrimental effect on...working memory, executive function, and real world academic outcomes." The project is part of his AP Research capstone project, and Alex plans to publish his work in the coming months.

Congresswoman Kat Cammack's office notified us of Alex's awesome achievement. This national project has been running since 2013, giving students the chance to create an original program judged by STEM leaders in the community.

In April of 2025, Alex also earned second place in the Dorothy Reeves String Competition. He'll be playing his piece at the Thomas Center on April 27th at 2 pm.

Congratulations, Alex! Your Ramily is proud of you!
