Alachua County Public Schools is officially launching its campaign to engage the community in planning for the future of local schools with a State of the District event that’s open to the public.
The event, called ‘Transformation in Progress,’ will highlight new developments in schools and the challenges facing local students, their families and district teachers and staff.
Participants will also learn more about the upcoming community engagement campaign and how they can get involved.
“During the next year or so, we’re going to be creating a new strategic plan that will guide the future direction of our schools and district for the next five to ten years,” said Superintendent Dr. Carlee Simon. “Talking with the people in this community about what’s important to them and hearing their ideas on how we can support all students is critical to the success of the process.”
The event will be held on Monday, November 15 at Eastside High School (1201 SE 43rd Street). It will include a reception with refreshments at 4:30 p.m. in the school’s courtyard.
The State of the District will begin at 5:30 in the auditorium and is expected to run about an hour. Families, employees and community members are all welcome to the event.
