Flu Mist Program 10.25.24
Alachua County Public School students can once again receive a free nasal spray vaccine for the flu at school during the school day. Consent forms and information flyers were given to NHS students to take home and emailed to parents. These forms are attached below aand also available in the NHS Front Office.
The Alachua County Health Department is offering free Flu Mist to all eligible students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. Flu Mist is a gentle mist sprayed into the nose, and it is a safe and effective way to protect your child and your family from the flu. There is NO COST to you for the vaccine. If your child has health insurance, that information will be collected and the insurance company will be billed, but there will be NO co-pay or deductible for families. Children with no health insurance are also eligible for the free vaccine. We encourage you to read through the Parent Letter, Vaccine Information Statement and Privacy Notice. Please complete the Consent Form and have your child return it to school as soon as possible (even if you do not want your child to receive the vaccine). You can also fax the completed form to (352) 334-7947 or email it to SLIV@flhealth.gov.
The Flu Mist vaccine will be given to students at Newberry High School on Friday, October 25, 2024. For more information, visit controlflu.com or contact the Health Department at (352) 334-7916.
