OVMS 8th Grade Visit (Information)
Panther Parents,
We look forward to seeing your child at Newberry High School next year as part of the Class of 2029! High School is an exciting time and we hope that your child will take advantage of the many opportunities to get involved in the most rigorous courses, as well as the numerous clubs, athletics, and activities around campus in order to make fantastic memories.
We had a wonderful time meeting with 8th grade students and are providing the information given to them for your review (please use the link below to access the Google folder):
- Presentation 2025
- Program of Studies
- NHS 9th Grade Elective Requests 25-26
- NHS Facebook and Website links
If you haven’t already completed the “NHS 9th Grade Elective Requests 25-26”, please take a moment to do so to request elective classes for next year. Please note that this form can only be completed once and the deadline for completion is Monday, March 31st. We will attempt to place your child in the course(s) requested, but final elective placements will be made to satisfy requirements for graduation and/or class size and availability.
Placement in core classes (English, Math, Science, Social Studies) will be done through teacher recommendations from your child’s current OVMS teachers. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s core course placements for next year, please speak with the current OVMS teacher in that subject. Some courses may have required summer work to be completed, which will be posted on the Newberry High School website at a later date, and an email will be sent to you when that happens.
New Student Orientation will be held during the week before school starts in the fall, so make plans to join us! This is a great opportunity for your child to meet the 9th grade teachers, take a brief tour of our campus, and receive tentative schedules. Representatives from our clubs, organizations, and sports teams will also be in the Commons Area to answer any questions you or your child may have.
Please contact Ms. Eberly at Newberry High School (eberlycl@gm.sbac.edu) if you have any questions. Thank you!
