November 9, 2020 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Monday, November 9th:
SGA kicked off our annual food drive for Thanksgiving last week. Our goal is to feed 30 NHS families this year and we need your help! SGA has distributed boxes to every 1st period teacher with a list of items needed to fill the box. SGA will collect the completed box and bring another one. (Feel free to give extra items but the box will only "count" if it contains everything on the list.) The 1st period that collects the most boxes will win a gourmet breakfast!
There are still two weeks left of the after school CROP sessions (Tuesday through Thursday, 3:00 pm until 6:30 pm), which will end on November 19th. Please reach out to the Guidance Office if you are interested in having your child participate in these remaining sessions in order to make up missing credits for graduation.
Congratulations to our Lady Panthers in their three game sweep (25-17, 25-20, 25-18) over the Bell Bulldogs in the State semifinals competition this past Saturday. Way to go Ladies! Next up will be the State Championship game this Friday, November 13th, at 3:00 pm in Ft. Myers, FL against the Snead Pirates.
Our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams will play tonight at St. Francis High School (4100 NW 115th Terrace, Gainesville, FL). The girls will take the field at 5:00 pm and the boy’s will play at 7:00 pm. Go Panthers!
The Report Cards for the first 9 weeks of this semester will be available in Skyward this Thursday, November 12th. We have attached an information guide on how to access the Progress Report here: Skyward Family Access_ Report Cards.pdf. If you need assistance with viewing the Report Card in Skyward, or if you are unable to print a copy of the Report Card, please contact the NHS Guidance Office.
Army recruiters will be on the NHS campus during Lunch A and Lunch B tomorow to provide information about enlisting in the Army. Make sure to speak to them during these times if you have any questions.
Parents! Please remember there is no school this Wednesday, November 11th, in observance of Veteran’s Day.
Tardies: Whether you attend school through the digital academy or as a brick and mortar student, tardies impact a student’s behavior and success in school, are a distraction to all students, and cause a disruption in teaching. Make sure you’re on time every day, to every class. Excessive tardies may result in lunch detention or ISD.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). Everyone believes in your success but “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right --Henry Ford”, but most importantly, “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
