November 10, 2020 Announcements
It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther!
Here are the announcements for Tuesday, November 10th:
Students, don’t forget there is no school tomorrow in observance of Veteran’s Day!
SGA kicked off our annual food drive for Thanksgiving last week. Our goal is to feed 30 NHS families this year and we need your help! SGA has distributed boxes to every 1st period teacher with a list of items needed to fill the box. SGA will collect the completed box and bring another one. (Feel free to give extra items but the box will only "count" if it contains everything on the list.) The 1st period that collects the most boxes will win a gourmet breakfast!
The Report Cards for the first 9 weeks of this semester will be available in Skyward this Thursday, November 12th. We have attached an information guide on how to access the Progress Report here: Skyward Family Access_Report Cards.pdf. If you need assistance with viewing the Report Card in Skyward, or if you are unable to print a copy of the Report Card, please contact the NHS Guidance Office.
There is still time left in the after school CROP sessions (Tuesday through Thursday, 3:00 pm until 6:30 pm), which will end on November 19th. Please reach out to the NHS Guidance Office if you are interested in having your child participate in these remaining sessions in order to make up missing credits for graduation.
The ASVAB test will take place next Wednesday, November 18th at the NHS campus. If you are interested in taking this test, please make sure to sign up in the Guidance Office. It’s not too late to sign up, if you haven’t already done so!
We have a VERY LIMITED number of tickets left for the post-season Varsity football matchup (Regional Quarterfinals) against the Trenton Tigers AT HOME this Friday, November 13th, at 7:30 pm. Tickets are still on sale online at https://gofan.co/app/school/FL17054 and in the front office. The cost of tickets is $8.00 per person. TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE GATE ON THE DAY OF THE GAME.
Our boys’ and girls’ soccer teams played at St. Francis High School last night and we would like to congratulate the girls on their win (2-0). Unfortunately, the boys’ game was cancelled due to weather.
The girls’ and boys’ soccer teams will play tonight at Lafayette High School (33 NE Crawford Street, Mayo, FL) with the girls taking the field at 5:00 pm and the boy’s playing at 7:00 pm. Additionally, both teams will play again on Thursday, November 12th, at PK Yonge (1080 SW 11th Street, Gainesville, FL) with the boys starting at 4:30 pm and the girls playing at 7:00 pm. Tickets for all games will be sold at the gate.
Our girls’ weightlifting team competed at Cedar Key School yesterday afternoon and we want to congratulate Neveah Conyers, Sarah Holloway, Danielle Oliveira, Hollie Pabst, Desember Penrose, Jakyria Stanley, and Hailey Tharp on their 1st place finishes in their respective weight classes. Additionally, Chandler Loveday, Leila Parsons, Tanna Ray, Sidney Seay, Briana Larks, and Shardae Paz all placed in their respective weight classes.
The cheerleaders will have practice in the Panther Gym tonight from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm and this Thursday from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
COVID-19 Guidelines: Students are required to properly wear a mask until they leave the NHS campus. Be sure to wash your hands, practice social distancing, and don’t share any items.
Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something (www.getfortifyfl.com). Everyone believes in your success but “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right --Henry Ford”, but most importantly, “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
