It’s a great day to be a Newberry Panther! 

Here are the announcements for Tuesday, November 17th:

Only 3 more days until Thanksgiving Break…..finish strong Panthers!

We are continuing our annual food drive for Thanksgiving through this Friday (November 20th)! Our goal is to feed 30 NHS families this year and we are making progress, but we desperately need your help. PS: The 1st period that collects the most boxes will win a gourmet breakfast!

Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving school break, school meal sites will be distributing meals for 14 days (between both days) by doubling the meals handed out at all of the pickup locations in Alachua County this week on Tuesday and Thursday, from 9:30 am until 1:00 pm. Be sure to pick up meals today! There will be no meal distribution on November 24th or November 26th.

ServSafe Training will take place in the Culinary Arts room after school today from 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm.

The Student Advisory Council (SAC) will hold their meeting via Zoom tomorrow beginning at 3:45 pm.

The ASVAB test is being given tomorrow during the school day on the NHS campus. It’s not too late to sign up!

The FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) will hold weekly meeting this Friday, November 20th, in Mrs. Harris’ room before school. If you are interested in joining this club, please see Mrs. Harris.

The NHS softball team will be holding a fundraiser at the Newberry Fall Festival this Saturday, November 21st. Make sure to stop by and support our Lady Panthers!

FOOTBALL: The Varsity football team will play the Wildwood Warriors this Friday, November 20th, AT HOME with a 7:30 pm kickoff in the Regional semifinals. There is a limited number of tickets remaining and TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD AT THE GATE ON THE DAY OF THE GAME. Tickets are $8.00 and are now on sale in the NHS front office and at 

SOCCER: The boys and girls soccer teams will travel to play at Williston High School (350 Robert Philpot Way, Williston, FL) tomorrow. The girls will take the field at 5:00 pm and the boys will play at 7:00 pm. Tickets for these games will be sold at the gate.

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL: The Lady Panthers basketball JV and Varsity teams played at Chiefland High School last night. The Varsity girls had a great win over Chiefland with a final score of 59-35. Nice job Ladies!

The Varsity girls basketball team will play Union County High School tonight AT HOME beginning at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $7.00 and are now on sale at Tickets will also be sold at the door on the day of the game.

On Thursday, November 19th, The JV girls’ basketball team will play the Bell Bulldogs at 4:30 pm and the Varsity girls’ team will play the Santa Fe Raiders at 6:00 pm. Both of these games are AT HOME and tickets are $7.00 and are now on sale at Tickets will also be sold at the door on the day of the games.

The Varsity girls will travel to St. Francis Catholic Academy (4100 NW 115th Terrace, Gainesville, FL) to take on the Wolves this Friday, November 20th at 6:00 pm. Tickets will be sold at the door on the day of the game.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL: The boys’ Varsity basketball team will participate in a preseason tournament at Eastside High School (1201 SE 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL) tonight at 8:00 pm and again on November 18th at 6:30 pm. Tickets for these games will be sold at the door on the day of the games.

GIRLS’ WEIGHTLIFTING: Our girls’ weightlifting team will compete tonight at Eastside High School (1201 SE 43rd Street, Gainesville, FL) at 4:30 pm.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE: The girls’ lacrosse team will conduct conditioning sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week beginning at 3:30 pm until 4:30 pm. If you are interested in participating, please meet Coach Nettles by the weight room.

Today’s reminder:

COVID-19 Guidelines: Students are required to properly wear a mask until they leave the NHS campus. Be sure to wash your hands, practice social distancing, and don’t share any items.

Students, please remember to check your school email accounts everyday for important announcements and reminders. Remember, if you are having trouble or have questions about anything at all, turn to an adult. And please, if you see something, say something ( Everyone believes in your success but “whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right --Henry Ford”, but most importantly, “Always remember, Shepp loves the kids!”
